Blasé Londoners have a new topic of dinner party conversation – how the heck did Peckham get so trendy, so fast? It’s always been a thriving, busy and changeable place, but in the last few years in-the-know buyers and renters have picked up on the undiscovered – and under-priced – delights of the area and moved in fast.
The area’s name comes from the Saxon ‘village of the river Peck’ and it was the last stopping point for cattle drovers taking their livestock for sale in London. The newly restored Peckham Rye Park and Common is the central green space of the area and features everything from a skate park to a lake and a thriving community garden.

Be adventurous

Peckham’s newfound popularity has something to do with its gorgeous Victorian houses with their big gardens and high ceilings, some fantastic shopping options and excellent transport connections, making it an ideal base for families. The best green space in London?

An independent, sporty area

Regeneration, Community & Identity

Originally the home of Henry Hastings, the 1st Baron Loughborough, who lived in Loughborough House in the 1660s, the area’s railway station was opened in 1863, making it a transport hub.
